Andy Redanka
If you’ve been a dance music enthusiast over the last 10 years or so, chances are you will have heard a track or two that UK midlands producer and DJ Andy ‘Redanka’ Holt has had some kind of involvement in. Whether it’s one of his many collaborations such as DATAR (with Danny Tenaglia & Chris Bourne), Tarrentella (with Chris Bourne), SKTR (with Sander Kleinenberg), Graffik (with Satoshi Tomiie) or his growing list of solo projects such as Redanka or Situation 2wo, you can be pretty sure to have shook your booty at some time to one of Andy’s creations. In the past he has worked for labels such as Island/Universal, Virgin/EMI, Sony and BMG, reworking tracks by Robbie Williams, Leftfield, Duran Duran, The Music and most recently the new U2 single ‘Vertigo’. In fact Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam loved Andy’s remix so much that they chose to include it on the CD single of their follow up track ‘Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own’, and offer him a pick of two other tracks to remix from their multi million selling album ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’. Praise, it has to be said, doesn’t come much higher than that!
Along with one time production partner Chris Bourne he released the fantastically well received ‘Playback Engineering’ mix CD in 2002 on the Bliss Recordings label out of Miami, Florida, and will soon be putting together a Rip Records (the company he co-founded with Chris) compilation of the labels finest moments, all reworked and re-edited along with some blistering new material to make the package sound as fresh and up to date as possible. As well as all this, Andy’s solo Redanka album is already well under way. Alongside the expected club bangers will be some melodious - almost classical - pieces that would be befitting of any film score. In fact all elements of the Redanka sound will be in there somewhere – so look out for it over the next 12 months or so!!
His DJ skills have not gone unnoticed either - he was picked up by Deep Dish’s agency ‘Bullitt Bookings’ in 2001 and since then has graced the decks of some of the finest dance clubs the world has to offer, taking his genre-spanning sound to cities such as Sydney, Buenos Aires, New York, Montreal, Tel Aviv, London, Moscow, Kiev, and Lima to name a few. 2004 saw Andy move on to playing bigger, higher profile events with shows at Innercity and Dance Valley (two of the biggest festivals in Europe), and storm through Eastern Europe where he has made a lasting impression not only with his music, but also with his down-to-earth, warm and friendly personality. A look through his box of tunes will unearth not only his own productions, but also a cross section of the finest upfront dance music available, from pure house to electro to techno but all with a very important common denominator -quality!
