Mason
There aren’t that many 25 year olds that can say they toured around the world with their record bags, composed music for commercials, released successful vinyls, play multiple instruments and received a price from the Dutch Queen for it! Mason is an extraordinary youngster with great talent and big ambitions!
At the end of the 90’s Masons got more and more DJ gigs and integrated his electric violin and effects in his dj sets. Things became pretty hectic, as he got asked often to play in countries abroad. He started to study ‘Music Composition and Performance’ at the Utrecht School of Art, and gained experience in composing all kinds of music, as well as the technical side of sound synthesis. 4 years later he graduated ‘cum laude’ and received a price by the Dutch Queen for the composition and performance work he did. As Iason’s music interests always have been wide, he composed music for several commercials, as well as jazzy down tempo songs, but also his first dance release in 2003, called ‘Helikopter EP”. As he kept on dj-ing around the world, he got noticed by dj Tiesto in South America, who invited him to play violin during his Tiesto In Concert events for more than 75.000 people, and also included him as a support dj during parts of his world tour in 2005. When Mason released his club hit ‘The Screetch’, he got loads of positive feedback and licenses from DJ’s like Eric Prydz, Alter Ego, Dave Clarke, Roman Flugel, Dr. Lektroluv, and even got signed to Tiga’s latest mix cd.
Nowadays Mason is quite a busy guy. He’s a resident dj for the infamous Electronation, and toured throughout the Netherlands to the nicest clubs, like the Paradiso, Tivoli, Paard, Las Palmas, Now & Wow, Panama and Melkweg, and festivals like Dance Valley, Mysteryland, Sensation, Parkpop, Extrema Outdoor and Impulz, where he played with the biggest dance artists of today. Also abroad his schedule doesn’t leave much space. From China to Miami, from South America to Russia, and Finland in between Germany and Singapore. His sound is a mixture between electro and funky breaks, with a tech-house and pop flavour, which he blends together in an energetic mix of own edits and productions. His latest record ‘Exceeder’, released on several labels in winter 2006 got tipped as one of the coolest tunes of the winter by big names like Tiga, Jesper Daelback, Freeform Five and Eric Prydz. In January 2006 he also started to performs his own music live on stage with his studio partner Coen Berrier as ‘Mason & The Maker.
